Technical Briefs To Assist Designers 002 & 003

30 . 11 . 2017

At Planex product performance and functionality are critical to our customers’ experiences. One of the ways we measure fitness for purpose and durability is through third-party assessment programs such as Furntech-AFRDI’s blue tick program, but now we are expanding the scope of our testing to establish how our products meet the evolving requirements of the modern office.

As part of this process, we will be providing technical briefs to assist architects and designers to better understand how our products interact with the people and workspaces. Technical briefs (TB) will provide design practitioners with a set of rigorous and reproducible reports reflecting quantitative, verified data and advice to assist specification.

The acoustics of environments that humans share and work feature sounds that are desirable and may need to be enhanced such as music in a room designed for artistic performances. Other sounds can be undesirable, are known as noise, and need to be reduced or prevented (e.g. noise in a factory workshop or distracting such as chatter in a workplace).

Planex’s xLocker2 System and Linea Sliding Door Cabinet have been designed with several features in mind, including giving an effective degree of noise suppression within the workplace. Linea Cabinets and xLocker2 System storage can enhance the acoustics of offices and similar environments by attenuating various sound frequencies within the workplace. The reduction of noise benefits the occupants of the space by promoting collaboration and driving productivity while providing an elegant and aesthetically pleasing office environment.

Planex has conducted tests on the acoustic properties of the Linea and xLocker2 storage range with RMIT University and CSIRO in order to make available data that will assist the design of interior workplaces.
