The Power of Local Supply Chains

For designers and builders, there are few things more stressful than a furniture delay. When the deadlines won’t move, the question becomes simple: how do you still make it happen?

Late last year, Planex received exactly that kind of call from Renascent. The brief was ambitious: quote, manufacture and install 250 tambour storage units with planter boxes for Kmart HQ – all within just three weeks.

Because Planex designs and manufactures locally, we were able to act immediately. Steel was ordered from our Melbourne-based supplier – just 8 km from our factory, who carries coils specifically for our standard product range. That meant no waiting, no uncertainty, and production could begin almost straight away.

Natasha Ellis Design Manager at Renascent had this to say about the project.

“From the first frantic phone call to Lee at 4:30 pm on a Friday afternoon before a long weekend, I knew we were in good hands. It was a massive ask, and Planex delivered at every single point along what was a very fast-paced journey.

We had the job priced by that weekend, where every minute was critical, and Planex worked with us every step of the way. Once the quote was approved, we were kept in the loop almost daily on how the order was tracking. They promised they could deliver, and they never failed. In fact, they exceeded every expectation.

To top it all off, the tambours arrived on site on time, and the install crew were incredibly organised. Every tambour was clearly labelled, with exact locations and floors identified. When you’re working with over 18,000 square meters this level of organisation truly matters.

Thank you Planex, you well and truly saved the day!  See you on the next one.”
