When an architectural practice has the opportunity to design their own offices it is an expression of their values. At Watson Young they believe that good design is measured by the quality of the spaces they create as much as in the delight on the faces of their clients, in this instance it is the staff at Watson Young.
Watson Young was established in 2004 and has grown with offices in Melbourne, Geelong, Sydney and Perth. The Head Office in Melbourne was recently completed and features an open-plan office space to encourage collaboration and design. Located in an old warehouse in Prahran over 550sqm with multiple breakout zones, the space is a buzz of activity, natural light and warm detailing through the selection of materials and furniture. Featured throughout the floorplate is Planex’s Linea sliding door cabinets with matching Flox planters that help to define the open-plan office.
Director Colin Watson, lead architect for the Head Office… mentioned that when designing the fit-out, “The Planex Linea cabinets with integrated Flox planters were used as an important design element in the concept planning of our open plan office space. They not only create a living/healthy environment for our staff but also help form secluded zones and provide flexible storage solutions for the team. The positioning of the cabinets establish designated work zones, break out areas and traffic zones while also providing staff with privacy and a sense of shared workspace.”
