xLocker2 at Evolution7
Designed by Hecker Guthrie and shortlisted for the IDEA Interior Design Awards 2016 "Workplace under 1000m2" category, Melbourne digital agency Evolution7 have created an inspired space incorporating a range of flexible working areas. Featuring Planex’s end-of-journey xLocker2 storage the interior is bathed in natural light and balanced by neutral tones, warm woods and greenery.
Evolution 7 is an award-winning digital agency based in Cremorne, Melbourne. The essence of their recent design brief was to create a beautiful, inspiring space for people to enjoy coming to every day.
‘‘Upon entering the space we want visitors to feel a sense of wonder, inspiration and calm. It should be a beautiful & inspiring place to work in, with the warmth and character of a residence rather than an office.’’
The fitout incorporated a balance of different spaces; from the open plan work area to the cafe/breakout zone, through to the formal meeting room and the more informal areas/lounges, which can be used for internal or external meetings, a quick chat, or perhaps to escape the hustle and bustle of the floor.
The palette of materials encompassed warm oaks, greys and neutrals, felt, linen and a generous helping of whiteness and natural light that pervades the space, along with a profusion of clambering greenery emphasising the verticality of the lofty ceilings far above.
Fostering wellness in the workplace Planex’s xLocker2 offers a wall of white steel lockers for storing gym gear, bike helmets and personal items. These flexible lockers offer end-of-journey storage providing the added convenience of both personal storage and the ability to recharge portable devices in between use.
For an agency with a leading reputation for user experience, the physical space
is truly a home for creative collaboration and inspiring work. An indication of how successful the space was in meeting the brief is indicated in the following, oft-heard comment from visitors on entering: “I wish my home was like this.”
